Josh Abrahams

Josh Abrahams is the owner, manager, in house writer/producer/engineer, and all-round smartypants here at Fishtank. He is obsessed with vintage recording gear; it's his fault the equipment list is so long. He is always up for a cup of tea and a chat about the possibility of bringing your next project to Fishtank.

Here is are some of his acheivement highlights to date:

 

1991- formed FSOM with Davide Carbone & Steve Robbins

1996- FSOM's first album ‘Chapter One' won an ARIA award for best dance release. Josh signed as a solo artist to Carl Cox's label Worldwide Ultimatum, with the global release of his first album, ‘Satyricon’

1996- 'Satyricon' named one of the top 20 records of the year in UK’s Muzik magazine

1996- co-produced with Baz Luhrmann the #1 UK pop smash "Everybody's free to wear sunscreen", along with several other songs on Luhrmann's album ‘Something for Everybody’

1998- produced several songs for Gerling’s album ‘Headcleaner’

1999- Josh's 2nd solo album ‘Sweet Distorted Holiday’ received six ARIA award nominations, and won two - best dance release and best independent release

1999 - Josh's song ‘Addicted to Bass’ achieved platinum sales in Australia

1999 - 2001- Co-produced the soundtrack for the film ‘Moulin Rouge’, taking on role of Musical Director for the last 8 months of post production

2001- Produced Amiel's Gold selling album ‘Audio Out’, which contained the platinum selling single ‘Lovesong’

2001- signed to Sony UK and released the album ‘Stuck in a groove’ under the moniker of Puretone. In England, 'Addicted to Bass' spent two months in the UK top 10, peaking at #2, and reached #1 in the USA Billboard Dance Chart

2002- wrote the additional music and produced songs on the soundtrack for the Australian film ‘One Perfect Day’, won an IF award for these efforts in 2004

2003- remixed a number of Australian artists, including Icehouse and John Farnham

2003- wrote and performed all the music for the new Ang Lee (executive producer) feature film ‘One Last Ride’

2004- played piano and Music Directed for The Soubrettes Cabaret Tingel Tangel in the Edingurgh Fringe Festival

2005- wrote and produced the music for several tv commercials, including the ‘Go For It Girl’ campaign for Portmans clothing, the Bailey’s “Melt” campaign, and the worldwide LG technology campaign

2006- ran the late night slot in the first Spiegeltent to arrive in the USA, at Bard University in upstate New York 

2007- commenced work with theatrical director/producer Michael Gracey on the musical ‘Fast Love’

2007 – 2008- co-wrote and co-produced 7 tracks for the Kaz James album ‘If They Knew’

2008- Music Directed ‘Desir’, a theatrical production in the New York City Spiegeltent

2009- teamed up with Davide Carbone to form the music production house s:amplify. Together with Carl Cox  they have co-written and co-produced Carl's forthcoming artist album

2010- wrote and produced the music for the Tourism Australia international advertising campaign

 

 

 

 

Davide Carbone

Davide Carbone has been at the forefront of electronic music since the late eighties. One of the first DJ’s to introduce house and techno in to Australia Davide went on to form the successful electronic act Future Sound Of Melbourne (FSOM). Contracts from Frank De Wulf, Carl Cox and Jeff Mills and supporting performances for Bjork, Tricky and the Prodigy followed. Two weekly radio shows on prime time Australian radio and an incessant DJ roster ensured Davide had the platform in which to launch his international career from.

 

In 1996 Davide received an Australian Recording Industry Award (ARIA) for Best Australian Dance Release and subsequently performed at many of Australia’s top festivals and events. This culminated in his three-hour performance at the 1999 Roskilde Festival in Denmark at which point he relocated to England.

 

In 2000 Davide started successful drum & bass record label BS1 Records which was responsible for discovering and developing several major artists including TC, Decoder of Kosheen fame, MC Jakes, Kubiks, Lomax, Dagga and Davide Carbone.


By 2005 Davide had released and remixed over fifty tracks for artists and labels including Tommy Boy, Total Science, TC, Industry, React, 31 Records, Defunked, Rubiks, Warner and Sony Music. He achieved a top 5 placing in the official UK Dance Singles Chart and several UK Top 100 singles chart positions. His BS1 Records cover CD for Knowledge Magazine further established the BS1 imprint as a major D&B player. During this time Davide ran one of the most successful music courses at CityLit, Britain’s biggest adult learning college and hosted pro music seminars for Apple Computer Inc.

 

As a composer Davide’s breadth of work has appeared on TV, Radio, Film, Theatre and Video Games. His clients have included AMVBBDO, Clemenger, BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Radio 5 Live, Redbee, Virgin, Discovery Channel, London Weekend TV, and Samsung. His music has featured on some of the world’s biggest radio and TV networks including Big 92.7FM in India, Discovery Channel in the US, Bibigon in Russia and the BBC in the UK. In 2005 he joined leading UK music production house Delicious Digital as an in-house composer for several years where he composed and produced over two hundred pieces of music.

 

Apart from composition and production, Davide has been renowned for his industry leading sound design skills. He created and produced the worldwide number one selling sample CD ‘Davide Carbone’s Drum & Bass Masterclass’ Davide also created the sound design and scored the world biggest online video game for Cyberstep, a Japanese video game giant.

 

Since returning to Australia in 2009, Davide joined his old music cohort Josh Abrahams to form music production house ‘s:amplify’.

 

s:amplify has recently produced the latest album from Carl Cox. It has also written several pieces for Australia Tourism, Channel 31, Metro, Dove and DHO. It has remixed several tracks with Carl Cox for producers including Moby, Giles Peterson and Miguel Bose. Davide and s:amplify continue to be a world leader in sound design by creating the s:amplify sample CD, iPhone and iPad app and co-developing a revolutionary new synthesiser called the KDJ One from Japan. Davide also tutors in Music Production and Sound Design at RMIT.
